Colombia is a country with a colorful and vibrant, rich culture. From the hot arepas (tortillas sold on the street), to the cumbia and salsa music, there is always something to see. The essence of Colombia can be found in its coffee or “tinto”, the term locals use for a cup of black coffee. The country is among the world’s top 3 producers of coffee. The coffee is produced in 18 coffee regions that are spread throughout dramatic landscapes in most of its territory. Colombia is crossed by the Andes Mountains and sprinkled with diverse microclimates and other geographic conditions that allow for distinct coffee flavors and profiles from region to region.
Costa Rica is a truly unique country, hosting more than 5% of the world’s biodiversity even though its landmass only takes up .03% of the planet’s surface. Around 25% of the country’s land area is in protected national parks and protected areas, which gives it the largest percentage of protected areas in the world.
Las Nubes, or "Cloud", is a beautiful farm located on the slopes of Volcan Actenango, facing the city of Antigua. The farm became a coffee plantation in the early 1970’s and is run by the Echeverria family. Humidity at this farm is slightly higher than normal due to its proximity to the coast. This humidity causes coffee to ripen earlier, leading to a unique cupping profile. The coffee is milled in Finca Capetillo which is also owned and run by the family.
